Nicki Minaj’s “Chun-Li” single is certified platinum, the rapper unveiled on Instagram Monday. The single, which will appear on her fourth album Queen, peaked at number 10 on the Hot 100 and was certified gold in March. In her post Nicki described it as a “cute little song that I had freestyle in a few minutes.” She also thanked her “own” producer J Reid, who created the instruments for both “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz” as his first major placements.
The news comes after “FeFe”, Nicki’s collaboration with controversial rapper 6ix9ine became her highest number of 2018 and her 93rd participation in the Hot 100, making her break Kanye West’s total of 92 and behind only 5 others: Glee Cast (207), Drake (186), Lil Wayne (138), Elvis Presley (108) and JAY-Z (98). She also thanked 6ix9ine in the post. “Congratulations with @ 6ix9ine [so smart, sincere and modest], that I allow myself to make history with you today, ugly!” she wrote.
Queen is scheduled to be released on August 10. “Chun-Li” was released as the first single and followed by “Bed” with Ariana Grande as the second. It also contains the promotional single “Rich Sex” with Lil Wayne. we wait.
